SHOCKING FACTS ABOUT THE FOOD INDUSTRY

1. food companies in the US use harmful ingredients that are banned in other countries around the world and exploiting amricans to lower food productions costs and increase their bottom line in america.
some of the american brands that are responsible for this are McDonald’s, Pringles (owned by Kellogg’s), Pizza Hut and Quaker (owned by Pepsi), Betty Crocker (owned by General Mills), Starbust (owned by M&M/Mars), Ritz Crackers (owned by Kraft). These are some of the brands that use GMO ingredients that other countries determined unsafe for human consumption.

2. 41% of Americans are PROJECTED to get cancer in their lifetime

3. if the nutrition label says 200 calories, doesn’t mean is accurate. 24% of nutritional labels are inaccurate so your 200-calorie cup of cereal may have 300 calories.

4. food companies manipulate the serving sizes to make the information seem healthier. so a muffin may have 600 calories.. but the label says 1 muffin is 3 (!) servings.

5. 0g trans fat product may still have trans fats. In fact, any amount of sugar or fat under 0.5g per serving can be listed as 0g.
“fat free” and “sugar free” products may be not healthy at all. to make up for sugar and fat, companies usually use chemicals and sugar (in fat-free products) that lead to even higher calorie counts than the full-fat version and are carcinogenic.

6. the term “NATURAL” can be used on any product that doesn’t contain artificial colors, flavors or synthetic substances. But what about GMOs?

7. products that claim “Made with whole grains” or “Made with real fruit” may contain a minimal amount of either. Always read the ingredient list. it should say 100% whole grain and the percentage of fruit should be high.

8. “fortified” foods are not healthy at all. junk with added nutrients is still junk! snack cracker with fiber are nothing compared to fresh fruit and veggies… soda with antioxidants can’t be healthy as fresh berries… cookies with minimal amounts of omega-3 cant’ be compared to a salmon fillet.

so, if a food has to convince you that it’s healthy, it probably isn’t.
